Expanding the scope of accreditation


We are proud to announce that have expanded our CLAS accreditation scope by adding new services. Since March 19th, our laboratory is now capable of calibrating instruments for volumetric flow measurement with an accuracy of 0.021% and density calibration services for Coriolis mass flow meters.

Our sustained efforts for the optimization of our gravimetric calibration bench are now rewarded with these high-level accreditations which certify our calibration capabilities.

Controlled Goods Accreditations


Polycontrols is now registered to the Controlled goods program of Canada.

The CGP's mandate is to strengthen Canada's defence trade controls through the mandatory registration and regulation of businesses and individuals who examine, possess and/or transfer controlled goods.

That program allow us to market our patented nanopowder feeder for military and strategic use in order to ensure the national security.

Change in management


Polycontrols Technologies is proud to announce a change in management. Effective immediately, the presidency is to be shared by Mr. Sylvain Desaulniers and his partners, Mr. Jean-Pierre Bessette, laboratory manager, and Mr. Martin Richer, sales director.

Polycontrols laboratory renew their ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation

Polycontrols flow calibration laboratory is pleased to announce that they have successfully renewed their ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation and, in addition to the capabilities already accredited, this renewal was an opportunity to increase it’s scope of accreditation for the calibration of liquid flow up to 300 gpm.

We developed three new high precision gravimetric flow calibration benches that allow us to certify Coriolis flow meters up to 3 inches. The ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation ensures all customers will continue to receive high quality flow meter calibration services with the added confidence that all aspects of our quality system are implemented concisely and rigorously. Each part of the flow meter calibration process is proven to be suitable and compatible to provide accurate and reliable results.

ISO/IEC 17025 is the main standard used by testing and calibration laboratories and includes management requirements that are related to the operation and effectiveness of the quality management system within the laboratory as well as technical requirements that include factors which determine the correctness and reliability of the tests and/or calibrations performed at the laboratory.

The North American Cold Spray Conference (NACSC) will take place April 3-4, 2013 as a co-location with the AeroMat 2013 Conference and Exhibition in Bellevue, Washington at the Meydenbauer Center.

Join us for an intensive meeting featuring invited talks and cold spray experts from around the world. North American Cold Spray features targeted presentations on applications for specific industries such as aircraft, space, gas turbine and defense.

The performance evaluation of a new powder feeder that allows continuous and uniform feeding of submicron powders for cold spraying and suspension plasma spray (SPS) will be discussed by Polycontrols.

Canadian firm helping design Venus probe


Polycontrols Technologies Inc. is a Canadian success story, a winner of the Canada Innovation Award specializing in products and services related to process control and flow measurement. Its strength is designing gas mixture systems for applications that require precise concentrations. For Polycontrols, having customers like the US National Air and Space Administration (NASA) relying on its expertise was a good reason not to let obsolete design tools keep it earthbound.

Signed agreement with the NASA


Polycontrols will be contributing to the next mission to Venus, whose objective is to explore its surface which cannot be seen from Earth.

An agreement was reached with the NASA Glenn Research Center for the supply of a gas mixing system to simulate the atmosphere of the planet Venus. This system will reproduce the planet’s atmosphere to test the electronic equipment of the exploration module which must withstand thermal stress and a highly acidic and corrosive environment.

Venus is known as the Earth's twin because the two planets are similar in size. Venus is closer to the sun than any other planet except Mercury. At its closest approach, Venus is about 38.2 million kilometers from Earth.

Although Venus is called the Earth twin, its surface conditions appear to be very different from those of the Earth. The planet is surrounded by thick clouds of sulfuric acid, preventing its observation. The surface of Venus is extremely hot and dry. The temperature of the planet's surface is about 870 degrees F (465 degrees C), the temperature is higher than that of any other planet.

Most astronomers believe that Venus's high surface temperature can be explained by what is known as the greenhouse effect. A greenhouse lets in radiant energy from the sun, but it prevents much of the heat from escaping. The thick clouds and dense atmosphere of Venus work in much the same way. The sun's radiant energy readily filters into the planet's atmosphere. But the large droplets of sulfuric acid present in Venus's clouds -- and the great quantity of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere -- seem to trap much of the solar energy at the planet's surface.

Agreement concluded with Cansolv Technologies for the supply of advanced control systems for their patented process of Amine Purification


Cansolv Technologies Inc. (CTI) and Polycontrols have concluded an agreement for the design, fabrication and supply of a advanced control system for their patented process for purification of Amine. These new production equipments will be installed at the Valero refinery in California and they will use leading edge technology (Allen Bradley ControlLogix and Wonderware InTouch).

Cansolv Technologies inc. provides state-of-the-art gas absorption solutions. CTI is an innovative, technology-centered company that offers its clients high efficiency air pollution and capture solutions for the removal of SO2 and CO2 from gas streams in various industrial applications.

Polycontrols is celebrating the launching of its new website. This new website has been completely redesigned to improve usability and navigation.

-Workshop on Global and Air Quality Protection for China’s Magnesium Industry April 9, 2009 – Taiyuan, Shanxi, PRC

This newly conceived industry workshop aims to share the latest information on improving energy efficiency, protecting the global climate and preventing air pollution in magnesium production and casting operations. The magnesium industry in partnership with the national governments of China and the United States are aggressively working to improve process efficiencies and to minimize harmful air pollution. The one-day agenda will cover global climate protection and more traditional air pollution prevention topics (e.g., sulfur dioxide, particulate matter, and nitrogen oxides). The workshop format is designed to encourage a free and opened exchange of technical information and practical experiences amongst the global magnesium industry, technology suppliers, academia, government and non-government stakeholders.

Signed agreement for the NSERC SOFC Canada Strategic Network


Polycontrols is proud to be a member of the NSERC SOFC Canada Strategic Network to promote the sustainable development and commercialization of solid oxide fuel cell.

SOFC Canada fosters SOFC R&D and commercialization activities in Canada. In collaboration with the NSERC (National Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada), they encompass leading scientists and engineers at Canadian universities, government labs, and industries along the full SOFC supply chain. Their objectives are to reduce the cost of SOFC manufactures, to improve fuel tolerance and to substantially increase their lifetime and ability to sustain cyclical operations.

Partnership Agreement concluded with McGill University and NRC


Partnership agreement has been concluded between McGill University, NRC and Polycontrols for the supply of a large scale helium recovery and purification unit for the cold spray lab housed at NRC. This system will support the development of new generation of highly-resistant materials, surface treatments and manufacturing processes designed to meet the extreme requirements of the aerospace industry.

This synergy has been made possible through the transformative CFI program.

Signed Agreement for SF6 gas conversion at Meridian Magnesium


Meridian Magnesium and Polycontrols signed an agreement for the conversion of all their North American production facilities (Canada, USA and Mexico) to new magnesium melt protection alternatives.

Meridian Magnesium is one of the world leaders in manufacturing of high quality magnesium die cast components. This new agreement is part of the strong commitment by Meridian Magnesium to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This project has been accepted by the UNFCCC.

Agreement concluded for the supply of Dilute SO2 Systems at Foxconn


Foxconn Technology and Polycontrols concluded an agreement for the supply of systems producing non SF6 Mg melt protection alternative for nearly 200 of their new Mg production equipments. These new production equipments include small and medium size die-casters, Mg allowing and recycling systems located in their Taiyuan production plan.

Foxconn Technology is a subsidiary of the Taiwanese Hon Hai Precision Industry, the largest contractor in the world in electronics. Foxconn also produces computers for Hewlett-Packard, the PlayStation for Sony, and mobile phones for Nokia. The company owns 3 production facilities bases in the RPC: Shenzhen in Guangdong Province, Kunshan in Jiangsu Province and Taiyuan in Shanxi Province.

Inauguration of new facilities


Polycontrols inaugurated its new production facilities and headquarter. Polycontrols thanks its customers for the confidence they are testifying for almost 25 years.

Our new location includes a 2,000 square feet modern metrology laboratory, dedicated to gas and liquid flow calibrations. Our production and inventory areas have also been expanded significantly to accommodate larger projects. We are now located at 3650-A1 Matte Boulevard, Brossard, Quebec, Canada, J4Y 2Z2.

CANMET-MTL Implement new magnesium melt protection technologies


CANMET-MTL is the largest research centre in Canada, dedicated to metals and material fabrication, processing and evaluation. Canmet-Mtl acquired a system for their Ottawa foundry, suitable to produce magnesium melt protection based on the Am-cover and Novec 612 process.

Partnership Agreement concluded with Sherbrooke University


Polycontrols concluded a partnership agreement with the University of Sherbrooke to build a gas control system for their HVOF plasma chamber, the largest in the world.
